Assignment Twelve

"As such, Reverend Wright's comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems - two wars, a terrorist threat, a falling economy, a chronic health care crisis and potentially devastating climate change; problems that are neither black or white or Latino or Asian, but rather problems that confront us all."

      This quote states that first of all Reverend Wright's comments that he mad on race was wrong and unnecessary in President Obama option. President Obama also states that the comments that Reverend Wright made is a distraction from the real problems that needs to be faced in our counties. This problems include, two wars, a terrorist threat, a failing economy, a chronic health care crisis and the horrible effects of climate change. In order for use to face and defeat this major issues American citizens most come together and overcome their issue with race. The fact of the matter is that these major issues effect every citizen in the United States of America regardless of race. Without this unity the Untied States of American will have greater difficulties dealing with these current issues in society.

      The reason why I pick this quote was because I felt that race is one of the main reasons why this country is having issues with fixing the numerous amounts of problems in the Untied States today. Some citizens, including people in congress, are too focus on the race of the President instead of focusing on the current poor state this country is in and how to fix it. It is true that what is needed in this country is for people to work together more and try to come with a solution to help all people who are citizens in the Untied States. If we the people do not work together it will probably end up to hurt all of us at the end. I hope this speak allowed some people to come to this realization, but there are still a lot of people that still are not there. This showed in congress were people who we vote in to make the decision the improve the country are fighting like children. This also needs to stop so that we can move toward a better economy, reducing the amount of wars, better climate condition and a better overall county.
